Note: This site is in an archive that is no longer being monitored for minor bugs, broken links, etc., but as of this posting, it still seems to be humming along pretty well outside of some ‘jumpiness’ in the text in the header.

Kudos

Generous comments from my project collaborators:

“From August to November 2020, I collaborated with Jen Elswick on the CHS election education website. Our collaboration worked very well. Jen clearly knew how to develop a complex and dynamic multi‐media website, and how to adapt to unexpected changes. She was always eager to get the job done well, without delays. She also seemed to relish the opportunity to learn new coding and design skills – all in the service of a widely accessible, information‐rich, and beautiful website. Plus, she was easy to work with; we quickly developed a good working relationship.”

“I was very impressed by Jennifer Elswick’s work on the election website. She designed this website on short notice and under immense time pressure with many moving parts and contributors. Thanks to her work, the website gained widespread attention and use within and outside of VCU. This project was a first as a collaboration between the College, Political Science and our Robertson School and Jennifer ensured that it all came together on time. It was a pleasure to work with her on this project.”

My Role

Deliver 26 web pages with no design direction, no additional assets or resources, no coordinator for content intake and stakeholder communications, and a tight turnaround at the busiest time of year – all while performing other assigned duties and working with a particularly buggy web framework.

Resources

No images were provided. I simply had a one-and-a-half page Google document listing:

  • Races and candidates
  • Links to video and web page resources for voters
  • List of voting-related events at VCU
  • Links to info on voter registration
  • A paragraph describing the other types of content for the page (e.g., expert articles)

Featured Skills

  • Concepting and design
  • Coordination and communication
  • Stretching web frameworks to full potential
  • HTML, CSS, Javascript
