Task
The announcement of the construction of a new building to support the STEM-related academic departments invigorated our unit and, of course, created giving opportunities for would-be donors. I was given copy, an inspiration page, conceptual renderings of the building and videos and asked to create a page to help generate excitement for the new project and highlight information about giving opportunities. The design would need to be flexible to accommodate changing content over the course of the building’s construction.

Virtual Tours Section
I particularly like the way the ‘Highlights By Floor’ section of the page (just above) turned out. I had six videos to incorporate on the page and at first wondered how I might do that most effectively to avoid such a long scroll (as was demo’d on the inspiration page). The use of tabs gives page visitors a taste of the content and a choice about whether they want to see more.
When I make design decisions, it is a priority for me to stay grounded in the experience and agency of the page visitor. I want them to know what information is available and give them choices about how much of it they want to see at one time.
